River levels
The Check for Flooding Service records River Aire Levels and shows the current level of the River Aire. You can see the highest recorded level and how the river has risen and fallen over the last five days.
The Aire Rivers Trust works to improve the River Aire and monitors the river. It is engaged in a number of projects which include historic projects such as the:
- DNaire Project https://aireriverstrust.org.uk/dnaire/ – Developing the Natural Aire (DNaire) was a partnership project between the Aire Rivers Trust and the Environment Agency. A project to connect 60km of the River Aire to allow the return of Atlantic salmon to their traditional spawning grounds in the shallow river and becks around Gargrave.
- Salmon Safari https://aireriverstrust.org.uk/salmon-safari/ – In Winter 2023 Aire Rivers Trust volunteers set off to build a picture of how pollution entered the River Aire in Bradford and Craven. Their findings, available here, gave cause for grave concern.
